Ice Cream Task
Walt: Solve a rich task
Ice cream cake for everyone
My teacher gave us a task in maths and it was about how much people would be able to eat the ice cream cake and how much ice cream cake would people eat. It was extremely complicated the problem was that there were bakers in Beijing that made an ice cream cake that was 4.8 meters long 3 meters wide and 1 meter high. Our group decided that 512 cm3 was enough for one person. What I did I converted 1 meter into 100 centimetres then converted 3 meters into 300 centimetres and then I converted 4.8 meters into 480 centimetres. Then I multiplied 480, 300 and 100 to make 14,000000 then I used the calculator to divide 14,000000 into 512 then it gave me 28125. so my answer is 28125.
Poem
Walt : Make a poem
Never give up.
Everyone try your best.
Try and get the ball and shoot it in.
Bring it in the centre and start again then.
Attack the ball and win again.
Losing is really hard to take. But
Love to have fun.
Mum Stepped........
Walt: Use better words.
Mum stepped on the stage and sang her heart out on X factor New Zealand. The judges loved her and said to her that she was dazzling.
They gave her four yeses and said that she was going to boot camp. When she heard that she made it in she burst with amazement and couldn't wait to start. One week later boot camp started and she was ready to sing. When it was her time to sing she sang spectacular and the judges put her into the semi-finals. Two weeks later it was time for semi-finals. My mum’s heart started panting. Her hands were getting numb.
She was facing other contestants . It was her time to sing she sang with all her energy and rocked the crowd. The judges judged her performance and said that she was in the finals.Three weeks later it was finals week and my mum was in the finals. She was practicing her song then her vocal cords were playing up. When it was her turn to sing she could feel her air getting thicker and thicker. When it was time to sing she froze..... To be continued.

Basic facts
Walt: Reflect on my basic facts assessment.
In stage 7 I got 60 out of 100 that’s why I went down to stage 6. When I did stage 6 I got a amazing score of 94 out of 100. Our teacher said that if we are below 90 then we would get put down a stage but if you are over 90 the you would be a stage up. In stage seven my weakness was the fraction and percentages and the prime numbers and LCF and < and > signs. In our class we call it the crocodile’s mouth. But my strengths are division, the square numbers, and the square root numbers and lastly the HCF. In stage six my weakness was the crocodile mouth. But my strengths are place value, subtraction, addition, multiplication and last of all division. I think I did good for this test but I think I can do better on the next one coming up.

Perimeter and area
This game is about perimeter and area puzzle. The strategy was to add all of the sides and it would give you the answer on this equation I knew that five plus eight equals 13 so that would mean that it would be the same on the other side. What I need to learn more about is fractions and percentages because I haven’t mastered it yet.

Design a garden
This game was a little complicated because when it was right it would say it was wrong. But I enjoyed playing the game. All you had to do was to drag the activities on the right unit. First I had to drag the clown space to six units and the see-saw eight units. and the last one ten units. What I would like to learn next is to work on my statistics and strand.

Report/ Ancient Egypt
Devonn Tearikimana
Walt: write an informational report.
Egypt is located north of Africa their neighbours on the east are Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The Mediterranean sea is north from Egypt but the red sea is east of Egypt.
Contribution to time.
The Egyptians had two contributions to astronomy it was the twenty four hour division of the day and the making of the calendar of three hundred and sixty five days of the year. The Egyptians took night and divided it into twelve parts and then divided daytime into twelve equal parts. They made an invention called the water clock. it was a container with marks on it. The had a priest called amenemope that was the wenuty. That means he was the hour watcher.
Mummification
The Ancient Egyptians believed in after life. They thought that if someone had died that would come back in the afterlife. First they would take the insides out but not the heart. Then they would salt the body and dry it for forty to fifty days then they would stuff cloth into the body so they would keep shape. Then the body would be oiled and then they would wrap the body up in heaps of bandages tightly. The Egyptians believed that if it wasn't wrapped up tightly it would rot.
Then the priest would come and send the body’s spirit to the next world. he had more jobs as well like supervising the process and touching the body with special instruments. After when the process is done the put the Pharaoh into a stone coffin.
Hieroglyphics
Hieroglyphics was a type of writing but it was in symbols. They would write hieroglyphics in pyramids and in other places. They also made a list called the king’s list. That list was for all the fallen pharaohs that passed away in order.

Glen Innes School had their jump rope in their school hall on the 7th of June at 1:30. The classes that performed were classes 1 to 12.
Each class had turn’s to practise in the hall so they can perfect their moves. When it was time to show off their routines all of the classes we happy because they were waiting for the other classes to show off their routines. All of the classes had brilliant song choices for their amazing routines. As the kids and adults were watching the routines they could see that all the kids had energy and had big smiles on their faces.
Some of the songs that the classes done the children knew the words and they sang along to it. The songs were suitable for their routines. When it was finished all the kids were exhausted and couldn't wait to go home. Everybody had big smiles but tired from their big performance.
