My Reflections For Term 1

This week we did three e-asttle tests, two maths tests and and one reading test. The levels that I did was from level 3-4 or 4-5.

In my reading test  I got a 3A. I know that I did not  improve and I have to work harder next term. I am very disappointed with myself because I could've worked harder. For the next test I would like to  get a 4P or 4A I hope I do achieve this so I would be proud of myself and my mum and dad will as well. My strength is I read to understand the meaning of the text and my weakness is to feel for the characters and situations. I think what will help me improve my work is to read harder books.

In  maths  we were doing number and measurement level 4-5. I got a 3A as well. I think I did ok because it is not far from 4B but I really want to try and aim for a 4P or 4A. If I achive this I would like to start and aim for a 5P towards  the end of the year. I hope I can achieve this goal if I do that will be really great. I did well to use information about rates shown in a variety of ways. I did not do well in solving problems using fractions. What I think will help me improve my work is to do more measurement work online.

In the maths test we were doing geometry and statistics I got a 3A again. I am really disappointed in myself because I think I did better last year. And I did not make it past the national standards. Next I would like to aim for a 4P or a 4A at the end of the second term. My strengths is to make a statements about the data shown in a statistical display. and my weakness are to explain the reflection or rotational symmetry of an object. What I need to do to improve is to do more geometry online

In the June results I hope I have a great result and I am over the national standards.

Making a toy

Walt: make a toy

Our teacher Mrs Ramkolowan said to us that we had to make a simple toy. My toy that I made was a pendulum because it is challenging and fun to make. The mechanism in my toy is a axle. What I used for my toy was marbles, cardboard, string, and much more. It was not easy to find the materials because it was scattered all around the house. Luckily I found the materials but got some from school. When we finished our toy we had to take it to the library so Mr Hendricks could judge our toys and comment about the toy. The top three winners were Mikayla, Matthew and Britney. What I want to learn next is what 3 mechanisms  are used in cars.

Food Tech

Walt: to prepare foods from all around the world.

On Mondays our year 8 and 7 go to technology at Tamaki College. The year 8 had food tech. It was fun because we were making foods from  all around the world like burgers stir fries  and much more. My favourite dish was the American dish. The dish I disliked was the scones. I would like to make for my family  Chilli Con Carne because it is easy to make and it is yum.  I would like to make something from Japan.

My Artwork

I chose this toy to draw was because labyrinths are fun and it keeps your mind thinking when you play  with it. That's why I wanted to draw it. First we had to do research and had to find a New Zealand toy on Google. When we finished finding our toy we had to sketch then paint then finished doing our details today. The medium that we used was paint. the fun thing that I enjoyed doing when I was painting this toy was when I drawled my toy. Next time I would like to carve artwork.

Dear Mrs Robinson

Dear Mrs Robinson

Thank you Mrs Robinson for teaching us the basic kicks, punches, blocks, of Taekwondo. Thank you as well for teaching us the oath of Taekwondo and counting up to ten in Korea when we do our punches and kicks. And the tenets of Taekwondo that is Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and last of all Indomitable spirit. The thing that I mostly enjoyed was doing the four directional punch and the four directional block as well. The thing that I love learning was the front snap kick the front rising kick and the scissor kick because it kept my cardio level up when I do it. What I could take from Taekwondo is perseverance because I love trying and not giving up when i’ve tried to do something heaps of times. I think next I would like to join a Taekwondo team and be a professional at it. Thank you for the taekwondo lessons this term I hope you come back next term.

Yours Sincerely
Devonn
